The characterization of lipid nanoparticles is necessary for a better understanding of their performance as carrier of active molecules. Size and surface charge have been widely used to this end. However, other relevant surface parameters remain largely incomplete. As a contribution on this regard, this research work reports a comparative study on the surface of Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLN), Nanostructured Lipid Carriers (NLC) and nanoemulsions (NE) that were prepared by the emulsion-diffusion method using trimyristin and caprylic/capric triglyceride for the lipid matrix and poloxamer 188 as surfactant. Zeta potential behavior, surface hydrophobicity, surfactant surface coverage and stability after addition of electrolytes were investigated as surface properties of the nanosystems. Results evidence that the amount of adsorbed surfactant varies among the nanodispersions in the order: SLN > NLC > NE. On the contrary, the surface hydrophobicity shows the order NE > NLC > SLN; just the opposite. In addition, SLN are more susceptible to salt-induced flocculation than NE, although the estimated zeta potential values for all the investigated nanosystems vary between -6 mV and -8 mV. A single integrated view of these findings underlines that, in spite of the use of the triglyceride and surfactant of the same nature to prepare the lipid nanosystems, their particle structure and physical state strongly influence the surface properties in these kinds of lipid colloids. Consequently a marked incidence in their in vivo behavior could be expected, that must be considered when they are intended to develop pharmaceutical products

The aim of study is to find out the correlation between osteoarthritis and body mass index in the patient admitted in orthopaedic department. This is a prospective observational study conducted among osteoarthritis patients in orthopaedic department of tertiary care hospital from September 2016 to June 2017. A total of 100 patients were included in the study based on the inclusion criteria, that is patient diagnosed with osteoarthritis got admitted to orthopaedic department of age group above 18 years. BMI of the patient, risk factors, number of joints involved, prescribing pattern in the patients was determined. Correlation between BMI and osteoarthritis were determined by using statistical method. Forty five percent (45%) of the study population was belonging to the age group of 61-70 years. In case of gender 85% of patients were female. In this study, 45% of study subjects were comes under in overweight category. In other risk factors physical activity and previous history injury are more prevalent. Among monotherapy of NSAID, 49.15% prescription were prescribed with etoricoxib. Among combination therapy of NSAID, lornoxicam and piroxicam combination were commonly used. From statistical work study shows that there is positive correlation between age and gender, but it shows a negative correlation with BMI. The study concludes that, OA is positively correlated with age and gender and is negatively correlated with BMI. OA frequency increases with age mainly due to ageing affects the ability of joint to protect itself from biochemical stress, also due to changes in articular cartilage.

The nanoparticles have attracted great interest due to their unique physical and chemical properties, and zinc oxide (ZnO) is one of metal oxide nanoparticles, which attracts considerable attention due to its unique characteristics and its wide range of important technological applications. Nanocomposites are characterized by a combination of inorganic materials in the same particle. These assemblies have properties ranging from those of each of the constituents. The properties of ZnO nanoparticles can be improved depending on the interest of doping research with different metal atoms to meet specific needs and applications. Therefore, doping in the host matrix of zinc oxide nanoparticles with appropriate elements can adjust different properties of ZnO and is an effective method for improving and controlling its properties, which is crucial for its practical applications. Mg-doped ZnO is of considerable interest because of its unique optical, electrical and piezoelectric characteristics. Our work consists in the synthesis of a ZnO / Mg nanocomposite by a chemical coprecipitation method. The characterization of the synthesized nanocomposite was determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-visible spectrophotometry. The DRX, on the one hand, makes it possible to determine the crystalline structure of the nanocomposite which is of wurtzite type, and secondly to calculate the size of crystallites obtained by the application of the Scherrer equation in the diameter of 49.44 nm. The UV visible spectrophotometry meanwhile revealed the existence of a maximum absorbance at 372 nm and allowed to assert that the synthesized powder corresponds to ZnO / Mg nanocomposites.
